Of all of the games I have installed, 100rogues has the lousiest, least-effort-put-into icon.
You have a great pixel pusher, someone who makes AWESOME pixel perfect art,

You have so much material and possibilities (imagine an epic stylized "@" symbol), and all you did was take Crusader vector shape and shrunk it down to icon size. You didn't even bother to leave some whitespace around it, it goes from edge to edge.
Come on guys, with so so so so much insanely good pixels being pushed into the game I find it hard to believe that you do not have the time to make an awesome icon.
Pretty please.

Once upon a time there was an awesome logo. It was simple and striking and awesome. Then people complained. They complained about many things. There was hunger / generally not enough food, the shop wasn't open, the logo was stupid. And so they changed the logo. Some were sad. I am one of those. Let me have a moment of silence.

(100 Rogues, you've come a long way baby)

I don't think the current icon looks bad. It has a picture of the crusader. Not pixel art, but the concept art instead. What's wrong with it? I've seen MUCH worse icons.
Personally, I prefer the current icon as opposed to the pixelated @ symbol on a bag of gold that it used to be. That icon wasn't too bad either, but I like the current one.
Seriously though, with as many issues as this game has, I think the game icon is the LEAST of their concerns.

I like the current icon.
It is cute and consistent with the game contents.
Hope it doesn't change.

I also like the current icon. I'm generally a big fan of the @, especially when it comes to roguelikes, but I do like the crusader-swinging-his-sword icon. Your art style is rad.

This is our second icon. The problem is, when we change it again, someone will come in saying "I don't like this icon, why did you change it?" It's tough to win. I'll talk it over with Blake, though.

Dear Keith,
it would be nice at least to have an icon with retina display support – currently it looks not so nice on 4th generation devices. By the way, are you planning any further updates for this game? If yes, then you could include such a new icon in the nearest build. That would be awesome.

I see your point..but if you make a really really nice icon everyone is bound to love it . IMO the current icon looks HORRIBLE (sorry whoever developed it….but the truth sometimes hurts )
Furthermore, you could update the icon with the new character update (which should come hopefully next month…..fingers crossed.)

I would love to see an epic stylized @ symbol. Something like this:

I think the reason that the icon can be considered "ugly" is because of the plain white background, the crusader picture itself isn't that bad.
Absolutely none of my app icons have a plain background let alone a plain white background. The next simplest app icon on my phone has a gradated gray background with the common app "shine" that's on a lot of apps icons.
I think that changing the icon figure (such as taking out the crusader or using pixel art instead) is definitely opinion based and will always have complainers. However, I think changing the plain white background is something most people should be able to agree on.
Edit: Just realized the last post was from March 30, 2011. O.o
Also, thought I might add that the app icon kept me from looking at the app for the longest time. :P
