Sometimes it'd be nice to be able to unload some of the unused items and armor at the shop for gold in order to afford the more expensive items. I never seem to find enough gold to purchase something like the Griffin Slayer sword I just saw at the shop for 160g!

This has come up on the forums before, and the standard response goes roughly along the lines of "this would make gold far too easy to come by, and make absolutely everything in the dungeon useful to cart around just to sell".

And in the long run it doesn't even change the game balance. If we let you sell items, we immediately jack the prices to balance out the extra average gold you'll have. Then you'll NEED to cart items around to be able to afford anything, since difficulty of monsters is balanced around the fact that you're occasionally buying items from the shop.
This same balance process occurs in every game with a shop, so the games you've played that make you think selling items at shops is a good idea are all just using that mechanic as something to distract you from actually playing their game by forcing you to perform menial collection tasks. Also, Santa Claus isn't real.

I carry whatever I can and throw the rest as weapons anyway, and I'd rather make some gold instead of throwing all the daggers and wands I normally find, and use it to buy something awesome for my current rogue! Simply inflatting the buying prices sounds like a good idea! Hope it happens at somepoint!

Yeah you could at least make the sell prices really low like to sell a sword for 2 gold or plate for 14.

If they're going to be really low, or coupled with high inflation, we may as well not bother.
All it would accomplish is the addition of a rote action into play; no thought or skill or effort is required, and collecting items just becomes another thing you HAVE to do to maximize your chances of success. And once you did maximize your chances for success, the raised prices would mean you have access to the same exact goods at the shop that you currently do. Selling stuff to meet that requirement is basically a placebo effect; you get the exact same amount of stuff, but you feel better about it because you picked up a bunch of stuff that serves no other purpose besides padding your gold pouch.
We don't believe in vendor trash. If we need to make throwing 'useless' items more advantageous so there's a reason to hang on to things, we can do that. In the next update, I'll try to give all Weapons some small benefit to being thrown, like causing a bleed for a couple of turns or reducing a defense stat or the like.
