When you fight Satan, one of the major parts of the battle is having to balance fighting him versus fending off the bats. A (relatively) simple solution to this dilemma is to (if you are ranged) sit on the bat spawn point and shoot Satan with your wand or bow and just out-heal the Ungodly Fires, which isn't too bad. If you are melee, then you just wait until a bat spawns, and then throw a net at it so that it blocks the spawn point.
A pretty good solution to this would be to enable spawning of vampire bats from two locations instead of one – the current spot and then the spot opposite it.

I agree. Not to mention it seems kind of off balance to have all the bats coming from one side. Always had an issue with that…

Yeah, there are supposed to be 2 on either side of the room. Fixed for the next update. Bwahahaha.

Satan has gotten much more balanced for this next update. His health has been brought down (an appropriately prepared / lucky Scoundrel can one-shot him, in fact), and his attack sequencing produces few-to-no streaks (i.e. he won't be able to cast Unholy Fires 4 turns in a row anymore. The odds should be much more favourable for the Crusader in particular, now.
