Isn't a rogue-like supposed to go on forever? I'm not an expert on these games, but I'm pretty sure they typically keep going until you die. I think this game needs an endless mode. Allow me to explain why.
With a game like Doodle Jump, chasing high scores is really addictive because no matter how high it is it seems achievable. But there are some ridiculous scores on the 100 Rogues leaderboards, and I don't like that I'm given a limited number of levels to try and surpass that score. I think an endless mode would prove far more addictive and fun.
Also, I was messing around in Paint.NET and decided to make up my own set of armor, which I think turned out pretty well.

I don't have too much experience aside from this and Angband.
In Angband, the goal is to get do dungeon level 100 and kill Morgoth. Once you get to level 100, you can't go any farther until you kill him, and after that you can descend down to level 127 (I think) where it stops. I don't know why this is the final number. You can get your character up to level 50, and then after that experience caps at 99,999,999.
The leaderboard (not comprehensive; you're only on it if you upload your logs) ranks people by experience and notes if you're a winner or not. Someone who wins at level 47 will be ranked below someone who dies at level 50. I don't necessarily think this type of leaderboard works as well is because in Angband, you will probably reach max level (unless you are diving) a bit before you fight the final boss, so experience is a very good indicator of progress.
I kind of like the idea of endless play (or semi-endless, or whatever), but I don't think I'd take too much advantage of it. In 100 Rogues, I've played the guy for a couple of hours or something and am not so attached to him, but in my one winner in Angband, I had a whole bunch of really cool artifacts and had a very large amount of time invested in him. In that case, I didn't really want to "retire" him and start a new character, but in 100 Rogues, I don't mind it as much because I can get another character to that power level relatively quickly.
I think that's why the leaderboard sorting by turncount (for winners) is ideal for this game. Plus, an "extended play" mode would add a lot more work for the developers simply drawing new monsters and coming up with new ideas, or just a recycling of old monsters, but just harder. I would like adding more worlds (Bandit Hole, Dungeon, Hell) over the adding of extra levels post-Satan.
I like your Black Knight armor. Very cool.

Very cool armor… tell you what, you modify the entire PNG file with all of the crusader's animations, and we'll put your armor in the game! You can even name it and tell us what it does.
Here's the original: http://i.imgur.com/pKlpN.png
And yes, we already have the turn-count leaderboards set up.
As for endless mode, I already have a tileset made up for it… We just wonder if it's the thing that will really excite people as much as, say, another playable class.

I'm going to take you up on that recoloring job.
EDIT: Done.
As for what the Dragon Armor does… I'm thinking it should be better than chain armor but not as good as plate armor, so it's easier to obtain than plate. It doesn't require Heavy Armaments. As for the stats… ummm… That's all you.

Hi,
I play in between my commute (or while my wife is shopping) and I'm quite happy with the number of levels currently. For long games, I'll really prefer the games on pc or console.
I would prefer additional player classes any day compared to more levels.
The fun is in utilizing new strategies using character skills or items. Unless the new level introduces unique gameplay or monster, being a compact game is not such a bad thing afterall.

That was some quick turnaround!
Also, I do like the turncount leaderboards a lot.

Yep, I'd vote for a new character as well; I love playing "as long as possible", but at the same time I like some goal (e.g. kill Satan). Doing a 100 levels without any "end" might be a bit pointless for me..
But as I've mentioned, I'd love to see even a full scale RPG based on 100Rogues graphics and "background" (e.g. characters, history etc) - where you could travel between locations and discover new (auto-generated) dungeons and stuff :)

Goals are good; I will agree that I wouldn't get proportionally as much out of endless mode than current mode probably.
100 Rogues atmosphere is also really good. Another RPG based on this game world would be fun.

I vote for endless mode; being able to save would completely ruin the game.

2.7, that is. We're doing something extra special with it that's going to take a bit more development time, and 2.6 was nearly out the door when we got the art.
