Build for “Bob” – Score 100,840
Start game on – Normal
Skill (In Order)
- Faith (1 point)
- Heal (1 point)
- Searing blade (1 Point)
- Weapon Focus (1 Point)
- Heavy Armaments (1 Point)
- HP up (1 Point)
Gameplay
- Heal when you have taken 20-25 points of damage. Heals cost 12 mana, heals 25-ish points. Expect the unexpected, don’t take risks.
- Energy pots are better than heal pots. You can heal twice from one energy pot.
- Use a one handed weapon and a shield. Use your wooden sword, upgrade to real sword only if you haven’t taken “Weapon Focus” yet. A mastered wooden sword can kick out some serious damage.
- Until heavy armaments use the best armor and shield you can find. Once you have heavy armaments, throw them at enemies to keep them out of your inventory.
- You will need a wand past “The Genie”. It is the only way to kill the ghost beetles, and ghost gypsies.
- If you find Plate or Tower Shield, keep it until you get to Heavy Armaments, sometime in the Dungeon Levels
- Pick up Arrows. Never skip, always throw an arrow. I have seen them do upwards of 10-15 damage. You will only hit 50% or less of the time
- Inventory management is key. You can’t toss from your inventory unless there is a monster around. A throw gives them a free move. Pick up only heal pots, energy pots, food, scrolls, rings.
- Teleport in a emergency situation. Emergency for me are when I am warped into a room full of bone demons, knights, and things that can shoot from afar. Unholy fire is a nice dice roll, teleport gets you out, most of the time.
- Things that can kick out high damage, like bone demons, are your worst enemies. They can deplete you of your healing ability before you take them down. If you see two are more, take time to really consider you options. Running to a room you just cleared may be your best bet to regain mana, even if it gives them a free hit.
- Never run into a room. Manage the room from a doorway. Step in the room, step back into the doorway a couple of times in a big room. One on one fights a healidin can win, against the masses he will loss.
- Defense is you best friend, evade doesn’t matter.
- Never open a chest when if there is a monster in the room or if you haven’t checked the full room. Monsters can’t move through chests or open them. Monsters might also hide in chests.
Let me know what you guys think of the build. Post your scores here if you make it far :)
I LOVE this game.

seems pretty cool.
I'll try this one on my future trip in the dungeon :-)

I think it's worth leveling heal to level 2 instead of getting extra HP. In the later dungeon levels, two enemies can basically take out all of that heal every turn.

I am trying to get figure out how to build a wand/axe based Healidin. It was working pretty well until I ran out of mana. 80K-ish points. The online leaderboards have some crazy high scores right now. I wish I knew what build they are using.
I want to run with the wand mostly due to the extra mana gain, ranged ability and bypassing armor.

I have the "Muffin" score with 190k (if I remember correctly). I did a Healadin build similar to this:
- Searing blade (1 Point)
- Faith (1 point)
- Weapon Focus (1 Point) (by the time you get leveled enough, you should have found a +1/2/3 sword or dagger)
- Heal (1 point)
- Heal (1 Point)
- Heavy Armaments (1 Point) (I only get this if I find a tower shield or platemail– otherwise I use the point on Heal again.)
Getting Faith early game helps a ton with saving time and food (from resting)– most of the time, God will come down and heal you up. Sometimes this happens even when you are hungry, so you can make more moves. Searing Blade is awesome early for wiping out mobs of enemies, or at least for reducing two hits to only one (and therefore the damage you take).
This build focuses on a sword/dagger and shield, with occasional support from throwing items (especially extra daggers and sometimes mana pots) for ranged enemies. Preferably your weapon will already have an enchantment on it, but if you find something better before the Golden Genie, you can spend the entire boss fight leveling your Weapon Focus on beetles. Occasionally I will do this for a wand as well.
I would say that Leather Armor + Tower Shield is way better than Platemail + Tower Shield. The evasion on Leather Armor far outweighs the reduced damage from armor. Evasion/block also protects you more from spells (armor doesn't).

Both of the healidin builds are good and i like them but i almost always get whack of glory before the dungeon because it's easiest way to kill ghost beatles and bone demons (not to mention blue knights) how do your healidins kill those baddies?

ehhh….i just go through the annoyance of using Searing blade on ghosts/ghostbeatles and chasing them down.
By the time you get to bone demons and blue knights, you should have mastered a weapon, and so you get 25-30 damage each hit on them.

I use a wand on ghosts and just hack it out with Knights with heal. It is usually knights or bone demons that kill me.

yeah…dungeon 3 and 4 are really tough, especially because of the huge damage bone demons do. That's why having Leather and a Shield really outweighs the small reduction of more armor.

As the game's lead designer, you have no idea how exciting it is for me to read these kinds of threads.

Build for "alphabot"
I finally got to level 10 — plus I downed Satan! Pretty psyched here.
Used a point build pretty similar to what you guys have here.
Searing Blade.
Faith
Heal
Weapons Focus
Heavy Armaments
Faith
I grinded on the genie's golden beetles to farm blue potions and to master a wand and basic sword. Beating Satan was simple — just throwing those blue potions at a safe distance and healing as necessary.

One minor issue – regarding points 4 and 8, you can just drag items out of the inventory window to drop them on the ground without spending a turn or being near a monster. Very good guide otherwise though!

I didn't know you could drop items like that. That is going to be very useful. :)

Can you still farm potions from the genie? We made a lot of changes to try to make it impossible. Let us know if it's still possible when 1.06 comes out.

It's not possible anymore to farm potions from the genie on 1.07, and Satan seems impossible to kill now :P I arrived at Satan with 7 blue potions, and they're not enough. Next time I will try to throw them all to Satan, but I don't think 7 will kill him

You can still farm potions from the Genie, just as in 1.06. Stand on the beetle summoning stone and break the lantern with ranged attacks, Then walk or teleport back to entry point. There is a door nook there with a clear view to the summoning stone, that is not in Genies range. Blast away until you have satisfied your thirst for potions and now gold :) then finish off the Genie.
They don't make wild Satans like they used to. It must be all that being indoors, bad for the constitution. I've just killed Satan with three potions straight up. I tried playing around with him some, to test different attacks but the game kept crashing when a bat died. Yay for bats, boo for crashing. Dzamir, it sounds like your Satan is behaving like a 1.05 Satan, back when they were wild and strong and free.
