What's the point of the accuracy stat? I know what it is meant to refer to but what my characters end up having and what actually happens seems to differ wildly. How can a character with 95% (or higher) accruacy miss seven times in a row? And then hit once followed by another five misses? It really makes no sense to me. That's likely the most frustrating element for me. It just seems like a useless part of the game. Adding accuracy rings doesn't really help much either. Or don't appear to.

Any insight on what this is all about?

I'm pretty sure a weapon's "accuracy" is just a base line stat. My guess is that monsters also have evasion (like your character) that effect your ACTUAL accuracy overall.

Bats and other flying creatures I think have fairly high evasion against melee weapons. I suggest a bow, throwing knives or anything pointy in your inventory that you CAN throw.

I do agree though that an accuracy boost of only 1 or 2 is hardly worth it, but this game isn't about finding totally awesome things that let you plow through it easily… that's why it's so satisfying if you DO win :)

hope it helps!

Relevant formulae:

A d100 Acc roll is made with a check of (Weapon Accuracy – Target Evasion).

Flying monsters have Evasion stats that are at least 15, maybe as high as 25, I would need to double-check.

Any ranged attack is granted an extra 10… or is it 15… accuracy versus flying creatures, negating most of this evasion bonus.

Immobilized targets are given a -10 evasion penalty.

Fun fact:
Flip a coin 100 times and there is a 10% chance that you will get a streak of 10 heads or 10 tails. Sometimes miss streaks like that just happen.
