I feel abandoned by Dinofarm. There hasn't been a new blog post in ages. Patches are becoming more infrequent, and their prescence on the forum has dropped drastically since about 4 months ago.

Well, I must admit I have similar feeling lately. At first I supposed everyone was quite busy especially because of "Satan crash bug", but after the fix, it is even "emptier" here :)
But on the other hand, maybe they cooking something new and interesting (like new character, new tweaks etc.). Or maybe even a full scale RPG (Ultima style) I am dreaming about for a while :-)
We will see..

We're definitely still hard at work on 100 Rogues. 2.5 is lacking a major feature to tout like the Skellyman, Hell, the Item Shop, etc., that often accompany our patches, but there are still some significant content additions, rebalancings, and a ton of work on stability. It took longer to ship, but that's a result of not rushing an update out to deliver a promised feature on time or address a high-priority defect. Really, this is closer to the norm for a sane, healthy patch cycle that doesn't risk breaking something critical.
Most recently we've been cooking up a port to OSX, but it's not the the most headlining feature to hype, especially when we don't have a firm release date on it yet.
It is getting harder and harder to continue development, though, as sales continue to not improve. Developing cool new features and addressing remaining issues is a lot of work, especially when I'm 100% of the software development team. Keeping 100 Rogues alive and growing is still the goal, but the way things are going it's not one we'll achieve unless we can get more people buying the game, or can find some new ways of funding its development.

Revenue Rasing Ideas for 100 Rogues (cuz I would like to see at least the last 3 major game features touted way back when [High Seas, Dinoman & the Moon]):
- Ad supported lite version
- IAP Challenge Pack for extra starting bonus?
- Start making new item packs as IAP?
- Vaults / custom / special maps as IAP?
Basically, take what you have been doing and put a revenue spin on it. If you communicate to the fan base that you need to pursue IAPs for continued development, I'm sure they would all understand.
As long as item packs / challenges / maps are easily creatable by the other 2 Dinofarmians, they shouldn't require too much effort to regularly implement for you Wes.
2 cents, over and out!

We're definitely considering some of those options. An ad supported lite version won't work for a number of reasons, but more IAPs are in the cards.
IAPs for content like item packs that we've been giving away for free til this point does seem a bit unfair. We'd probably still do it (because it is in the player's best interests), but hopefully other avenues like the OSX port carry some of the weight for a while before that becomes necessary.

Well, it is true, that this "stagnation" of sales is unpleasant, but it is quite logical. I mean every game or application has its customers, but this particular "market" is sooner or later saturated..
Personally I wouldn't press too hard on in-app purchases, because quite frankly, it can disappoint players (you know – you buy a game and then you have to buy other features). But lite version (even without ads) with "full game" unlock might be much better option.
Of course, there are IAPs that have sense even for current customers – e.g. new characters. I gladly purchased Skellyman, 'cause she is really lovely ;) And as far as I know, there were rumors about other characters (like Dino Barbarian?).
Well, one of the best ways how to earn some money is to create another game. Maybe different, maybe similat. I suppose that arrival of iPad2 might be a good time for sth like 100Rogues2 with some changes and tweaks, new levels and so on.
And of course, my good old dream of 100Rogues-inspired full-scale RPG (in style of older 2D Ultima games). Then it will be possible to offer AIP like new larger areas with new quests and dungeons etc.
(and in case of energency, you can try to sell the tickets to that upcoming 100Rogues movie) :))

Is there a donate area on the main website? I actually got my copy when it was featured on Freeappaday, and would be more than willing to donate a couple dollars. I already bought the skellyman, not because I wanted another character (fairy ftw!) but to shell a dollar your way. I mean its not much but Id be willing to donate 5 or 10 dollars as a thank you and im sure a few others on the forum would.

+1
That's exactly what i did, i got it from the "free app of the day", and i instantly loved it so much that i soon didn´t hesitate to purchase the third character, also happy to pay you of somehow for such an awesome game i got for free.
Im sad to hear that the sales hasn´t been very good, specially considering the amount of crap that fills up the app store, which i think enchances the beauty of your game. but unfortunattely, without information, this title is lost in the inmensity of the app store. I've never bought anything more expensive than 3€… usually 0.79€ stuff and so, but now that i know how this game is, I would have happily paid 5€ for it, cause it worths it.
Congrats guys and good luck in your future proyects .

There's a whole new wave of customers buying Verizon iPhones. Are you guys gonna put 100 rogues on sale to attract more buyers? Or do some kind of promotion to help boost sales?

Well, you have to raise the price and then lower it again :) Then the app can show e.g. on various app trackers (searching for free or discounted apps)

Yeah, that's a good idea. Bring it back up to the base and then discount it again to get more attention.

Hey guys I was browsing app store a bit and I saw 100 Roges in number 41 at RPG Games Category, you are climbing up!!,
I remember las time i saw it, like a month ago or so it was something beyond the 75th, wasn´t it?
I think it would be great if your efforts finally fruit, slowly but constantly, into the well deserved first page of the rpg category, where your sales will improve significantly…

On iPad we're even higher. We're definitely quite pleased to see things trending upwards as far as rankings go, but all categories still seem to be quite top-heavy where sales are concerned.
Nothing to do but keep trying, though!

I think its time for a new game. You have saturated the market pretty much. I love this game, its the best thing ever. But from a developers point of view, your beating a dead horse currently. I dont know how many people actually bought 100 rogues, but if you could produce a new game you could make them pay two dollars again. That could be alot of money. Instead of taking a super long time making expansion packs, that half the poeple wont even buy.

Super long? Monthly updates with new character classes is the blink of an eye compared to most games (and its at the cost of QA, an unfortunately risky necessity), even on iOS.
You should look at the lifespan of some of the more popular roguelikes. We're still in infancy compared to Nethack, Angband, etc.

No need to get offended. I think a month is long time personally, like a twelth of a year but then again your a one man army and if you can get anything out in a month thats probably amazing. I think I have changed my mind, you should focuse your attention on 100 rogues and get to the top 25, then you will be able to make your logo gold like blizzard, becuase you will be loaded. Program on

No offense taken, certainly! It's entirely too easy to underestimate how long software or even game content takes to develop. It's also a completely different perspective for a player that has nothing to do but play the existing game while waiting.
I see these misconceptions that content should be created roughly as fast as it can be consumed creep up a lot. I even do it quite frequently when trying to estimate my own development times.
